This topic is for all questions raised on our webinar “Control of the Quality under JCT D&B Contract”. If you haven’t already attended it, you can sign up here Webinar - Control of the Quality Under JCT D&B Contract | Built Intelligence

What’s it about?

The aim of this webinar is to explain how the quality of the works in controlled, including management of goods and workmanship and defective work under the JCT Design and Build Contract.

You will learn

By the end of this webinar you will be able to:

  1. Understand how the control of quality process works for goods and materials under DB16
  2. Outline the processes that govern quality of workmanship under DB16
  3. Explain the process for managing any defective, ineffective or incomplete works, under the process of DB16 and relevant case law.

To avoid issues with non-defect based shrinkages not being covered, could it be included in the ERs that all issues with shrinkages are put right regardless of whether it is due to a defect (essentially making it a defect but allowing rectification period to commence)?

Too many Employers do not consider Employing their own design quality checking team (often to their own cost). Trying to get the EA to quality check is not the right solution since many EA’s are neither competent nor insured to do this.

Employers who issue post completion instructions can muddy the defects rectification process. This shouldn’t be happening but often it does.
