Why is it important to provide a well presented and evidenced claim?

It may be the case that the employer would wish to seek to recover some or all the costs from others and would need such a claim upon which to rely on. For example, in the case Costain Limited v Charles Haswell and Partners Limited [2009] EWHC B25 (TCC), Costain’s relied upon a settlement with its sub-contractors to pursue Haswell & Partners for that recovery. The claim failed because Costain could not show how they reached the settlement sum with the sub-contractor.
