NEC4 ECC : Searching for similar defects - Is it a CE?

A defect has been notified on an electrical connection, prior to Completion. From the initial investigation, the defect was deemed to be against industry best practice and not the actions of a competent electrical sub-contractor. At the request of the Client, the Supervisor instructed the Contractor to search for a Defect on the similar electrical connections which formed part of the works, using an independent electrical subcontractor. No further defects were found.
As the instruction to search for a defect was only given due to the original defect being found, would the Contractor still be right to notify a Compensation Event under 60.1(10) for the independent electrical subcontractor’s time (and other costs associated with the search), or is only the Defined Cost due?

Yes, they are correct to notify the CE. They would be entitled to the full costs as no Defects were found in the search.
