What are a local authority's responsibilities under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990?

This act requires local authorities to keep a record of listing buildings within their region, and those that have a special architectural or historic interest. It also requires councils to keep a record of all the properties that are located within Conservation Areas.
