With regards to the Buildings Act 1984, what duties do the local authority have?

Local authorities must ensure the requirements of the act are completed. In addition, the authorities must ensure that the associated Building Regulations are subject to the following legislation:

      the provisions of Part I of the Public Health Act 1936 (relating to united districts and joint boards);

      Section 151 of the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980 (relating to urban development areas);

      Licensed copy from CIS: bnfl, Sellafield Sites Ltd, 11/10/2012, Uncontrolled Copy;

      Section 1(3) of the Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984 (relating to port health authorities).
