Local authorities are legally permitted to carry out any tests required to ensure that:
work has been carried out in a workmanlike fashion;
appropriate and sufficient quality materials have been utilised;
the building is fully compliant with the drainage and sewerage requirements that are laid out in Part H of Schedule 1 of the Buildings Regulations 2000.
