How are buildings evaluated in relation to the Building Act 1984, to see if they comply with the legislation?

Regular checks are part of the local authorities’ remit to ensure that it complies with the legislation. The tests can include the following:

  •       tests of soil surrounding the building;
    
  •       tests of materials used in the construction of the building;
    
  •       tests of fittings or equipment used in connection with the building;
