Hi. I am having a debate about a vehicle costs, specifically concerning insurance.
Does the cost of a vehicle include the cost of insurance and maintenance and the like under SoCC 13(n) and therefore be a Defined Cost or should it be an insurance that the contractor has to provide under SoCC 8?
Specifically interested in the above in relation to company cars provided to individuals who are working on the project.

The answer depends upon what is provided by an employer to an employee as part of their employment contract. If a company car is provided then what costs are associated with this that the employer pays for. This would most likely include insurance and also other costs such as servicing, maintenance and any fuel allowance for business use.
SoCC section 8 relates to ‘adjustments’ whereby the Client (NEC4 ECC) pays for the cost of insurance that the Contractor is obliged to provide and where the Contractor is paid by an insurer so an equivalent amount is deducted, so that it is not paid twice.
