We are working on an Option A contract and there have been some minor changes to the drawings which have in some cases reduced some quantities. Is the client entitled to savings for each of these events? This will now potentially mean we have to re measure the project.
In short yes, just as in the same way if these minor drawing changes meant you are now installing more of something you would be able to claim the extra as a compensation event.
Any change to the Scope (or Works Information under NEC3) is a compensation event and is assessed accordingly. Being option A activity schedule rates are not used to assess a positive or negative compensation events unless both Parties agree. In this instance you would assess the cost that the omitted works would have cost you and that would be the assessment of the compensation event saving.
