Why must a poorly drafted claim be avoided?

In the instance of a poorly drafted claim which is subsequently improved and corrected for adjudication, the fact that certain documents and arguments have been modified can cause a claim to fail at adjudication. The opposing party may argue that the claim has not been previously so argued thus there is no dispute.
