Under the existing regulations, a competent person is required to take responsibility for the following:
ensuring that electrical work is compliant with BS7671:2001 and all other relevant Building Regulations;
ensuring that the person(s) that ordered the work receive a signed Building Regulations compliance certificate;
providing the relevant building control body with an copy of the certificate;
ensuring the person(s) that ordered the work are issued a completed Electrical Installation Certificate.
