# With regard to procurement, what rules govern e-auctions?

There are no restrictions with regard to e-auctions in terms of whether tenders are selected on the basis of the lowest price or most economically advantageous tender. The intention to hold an e-auction must be explicitly stated in the contract notice, and has to be based upon price or quantifiable elements of the tenders. There are many regulations regarding precisely what documents should be submitted and when, and what suppliers need to be informed if an e-auction is to be carried out, and it is advisable for utilities to familiarise themselves with these if they wish to carry out such an auction.
