# What types of Subcontract should be used?

The Latham Report (July 1994) recommends using the NEC Engineering and Construction Subcontract (or the NEC Professional Services Contract for design work), hence, this is most frequently used although the NEC Engineering and Construction Short Subcontract is an option for straightfoward, low risk subcontracts. In overseas contracts, however, or where the industry is such that the NEC is unsuitable, the Project Manager may accept other forms of subcontract.
