# NEC ECC: Dividing Date in NEC4

I do not quite understand the “dividing date” for the last two paragraphs in clause 63.1 in NEC4. What is the difference?

The 1st of those paragraphs refers to a compensation event which arises from a relevant communication from the PM or Supervisor (see 60.1 (1), (4), (7), (8), (10), (15), (17), (20)).

The 2nd of those paragraphs refers to a compensation event notified by the Contractor under 61.3.

Where the Contractor notifies a CE which should have been notified by the PM under 61.1, then the 1st of those paragraphs would apply.
