Employed in the construction industry since 1983, with a change of direction culminating in graduating as a quantity surveyor in 1993. First used NEC form of contract in 1999 and was 'won over' by it's approach to contract administration.
I recognise that a successful project is not dependent upon the form of contract, although this does contribute towards the outcome, where administered correctly and sensibly.
I have compiled numerous, detailed obligation registers mainly over the past 15 years, with a lot of 'soul searching' for the detailed categorisation and sub-categorisation to assist in searching and grouping of relevant information for the user.
I don't consider myself an expert on NEC but have plenty of project based experience as part of both the Employer and Contractor's team. I have particular interest in certain subjects, mainly through encountering these on projects and researching the issues to form an opinion, particularly in matters which the NEC contract can be ambiguous, including; what is a forecast, risk allowances in quotations, programme concurrency, physical (ground) conditions remedies for breach of contract where it is silent (Contractor shall provide, but without saying what happens if he doesn't !!).
This forum is an excellent resource and a great way to discuss issues. Glenn, Jon and Barry have clearly invested a lot of time and effort.
