What are the statutory requirements under existing Building Regulations with regard to electrical installations?

The existing Building Regulations state that all electrical installations must conform with the following:

·     they must be designed in such a way that they are protected against mechanical and thermal damage;

·     they must be designed in such a way that they do not present any threat to person(s) in terms of fire hazard or electric shocks.
